St. John's Lutheran Church
Our mission as members of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church is to glorify God our Savior in our lives, families, and community, gather to worship Him, grow in our knowledge of His Word, be good stewards of all He has given us, and go into the world to share His word. |

Time of Grace Devotions
In a busy world, setting aside time for God seems to take a back burner too easily. I have found one easy way to get my thoughts back on track are these simple devotions e-mailed to me daily. They come from Pastor Mark Jeske, who serves St. Marcus Lutheran Church in Milwaukee. Click the link to enter your e-mail or search recent devotional topics. |
What a Four-Year-Old Should Know
I stumbled across this blog entry one summer and thought it was very appropriate. I don't want parents to stress too much about what their child does or does not know. Social/emotional skills and the basic desire to learn should be the root of pre-school learning. I did not read all of the other articles from the blog, but the other ones that I did read seemed to have more good advice. |
Multi-Grade Information
Considering whether or not to continue sending your child to St. John? I have experienced public schools and single-grade classrooms, but my preference is for multi-grade classes. Check out all of the benefits associated with multi-grade classes in this informational brochure put together by a sister school, Cross Of Glory, in Peoria, AZ. |
PBS Kids Games
For young children, I don't recommend a lot of 'screen time', but occasional games are fun. When my son goes online, I usually direct him to the PBS Kids Games site. He finds games from a variety of educational shows involving several classic characters and some new favorites. |

Editable Handwriting Worksheets
This page offers an easy way to make practice pages for your children to write with. You can put in any letters or words that you think they should work on and it will allow you to print out a page with the writing guide and dotted letter forms. The title and picture link gets you in to the Zaner-Bloser style of writing we use, or you can go to their home page for other styles. Warning: this website has a lot of ads. You don't need to download anything, just pick out whether you want a name and sentence, single word, multiple words, or paragraph. Once you are on that page, scroll down to find a small column on the left hand side to edit your sheet. Preschool children should use the 3/4 inch size, but can transition to smaller sizes as they enter kindergarten. |
