My interest in teaching goes back to my own grade school days at Trinity Lutheran School in Neenah. I had a strong connection with my teachers and decided early on that I would like to join their ranks as a teacher in a WELS school. My interest carried me on to a volunteer teaching internship during high school and then to Martin Luther College. Through MLC, I experienced a wide variety of classrooms—preschool through eighth grade, public and parochial, single and multi-grade. The majority of my student teaching experience came in Kindergarten through second grade. I graduated with honors in 2005 with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and a Minnesota state license. Over the last few years I have also transferred my teaching license to Wisconsin and begun looking into continuing my education with classes in special needs education.
After graduation, I spent most of my time teaching in child care centers. I served at St. Paul's Lutheran Child care in Winneconne, WI and Our Shepherd Lutheran Family Center in Appleton, WI for a total nearly six years. Much of my experience at the two centers came in the three- and four-year-old groups. It was a joy to see them learning so quickly at the young age and showing their faith to everyone around them.
I currently live in Kaukauna with my husband, Jason, and six year old son, Arlen. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, biking, crafting, and family time.
